“Sorry to have missed you” -Noreen Ryan- Fianna Fail- Limerick East- 2007 General Election August 24, 2011
Limerick City and County Council Local Election Results 1960 to 2009.
At the minute the fabulous electionsireland.org has most of the 1991 LE with all of the 1999, 2004 and 2009 results. So this continues to add the online availability of old election results online.
These are excel files.
I’ve leaflets for many of these Local Election candidates posted. Alas I’ve it done by year as opposed to year / area.

Pre 1981 General Election profile of Willie O’Dea – “William O’Dea: A first step into the Limelight” June 15, 2011
Willie O’Dea when he was William O’Dea. Again not an election leaflet (like the Pat Cox one posted recently) but I thought would be of interest. Its from the run up to the 1981 General Election where William O’Dea has been selected on the Fianna Fail ticket in Limerick East. He failed to win a seat but won a seat in the February 1982 election.
Many thanks to the sender.
Flyer from Maurice Quinlivan- Sinn Fein -Limerick -2011 General Election February 15, 2011
From the 2011 General Election a leaflet from Sinn Fein candidate Maurice Quinlivan running in Limerick.
Elected to Limerick City Council in 2009, It was the making of defamatory statements about Quinlivan, that eventually led to Willie O’Dea resigning as Minister of Defence.
‘Check out www.willieodea.ie’, ‘Support Willie on Facebook’ -Willie O’Dea 2011 General Election Flyer. January 17, 2011
A leaflet from Willie O’Dea asking voters to “Check out http://www.willieodea.ie”; and “Support Willie on Facebook”. He also aks you to “Register as a friend…”
Many thanks to the sender.
Had to laugh when I saw this on an archived version of Willie O’Deas Website from 2002.
They see, just like the rest of us, a potentially seismic realignment of Irish politics. Their problem is that they don’t know where to shift to. This indecision is due to the existance of two distinct groupings within Fine Gael.
The fault line running through Fine Gael was papered over by their antipathy to Fianna Fáil. Yet this fault line became almost geographically visible within months of Michael Noonan taking the leadership. Their stance on the abortion referendum exposed the gulf for all to see, including me.
I hate to be an “I told you so”, but I predicted as much last March. In the aftermath of the abortion referendum vote I wrote in the Sunday Independent: “The party (Fine Gael) tried to face two ways at once and it will pay the price. They now seek to claim the urban no voters who according to today’s poll don’t support Fine Gael while turning their back on their traditional supporters outside Dublin who largely voted Yes.”
Card from Willie O’Dea with Clinic Details January 4, 2011
A Card from Willie O’Dea, Minister for Defence, with details of his various clinics. The Fianna Fail TD for Limerick East has a lot of clinics.
I also thought that in light of his unexpected sacking as a Minister he must have been stuck with a pile of these cards reminding him and voters of his demotion.
Michael Mulcair -Fianna Fail -2009 Local Elections Rathkeale January 1, 2011
From the 2009 Local Elections a leaflet for Fianna Fail candidate Michael Mulcair running in Rathkeale.
Despite polling a decent 905 votes he failed to win a seat.
‘Plane Daft -Berties Team leave Shannon Stranded” -Fine Gael leaflet on Shannon Airport December 15, 2010

From the 2009 Local Elections a Leaflet for Fine Gael candidate Stephen Keary running in Rathkeale. Keary, who had missed out in 2004 was easily elected.
Amongst the items in the leaflet is his fixlimerick.ie website. Its an interesting idea .
