From the 2007 General Election Campaign a four page leaflet from Progressive Democrat TD Mary Harney running in Dublin Mid West. The headline had “Ten Reasons to Support Mary Harney” and inside there was a message from Mary Harney, local issues in Lucan and her achievements in Health.

“The PDs Get Things Done” – Vote No 1 Mary Harney – Progressive Democrats -2007 General Election Dublin Mid West June 3, 2011


From the 2007 General Election a leaflet from former Progressive Democrat leader Mary Harney who was running in Dublin Mid West. In what turned out to be her last election she polled 4,663 votes and held her seat.
The “targets for government 2007 to 2012″ part makes grim reading considering our current situation.

Mary Harney -Progessive Democrats -1992 Dublin South West October 20, 2010


From the 1992 General Election a leaflet for Progressive Democrat candidate Mary Harney running in Dublin South West. The outgoing Minister of State for Environmental Protection (during which she famously banned Smokey Coal in Dublin) was comfortably elected. (Her record at electionsIreland.org)
Although they didn’t get into Government again until 1997, The PDs Priorities included “A better run, patient friendly Health Service.”
The Leaflet also refers to the Culliton Report which was “a report to the Republic’s Minister for Industry and Commerce by the Industrial Policy Review Group (chaired by Jim Culliton). Entitled A Time for Change: Industrial Policy for the 1990s, the report called for a broader approach to formulating policy for industry and made recommendations on a wide range of relevant public policy areas, including taxation, infrastructure, education, training, science, and technology. It also recommended reducing reliance on industrial grants, a greater emphasis on fostering clusters of related industries, greater commitment to developing Irish indigenous industry, and reformed institutional structures for industrial policy.”*quote from the ESRI

By voting for Helen Keogh you were also voting to put Mary Harney into government, hence doubling your vote.
Helen Keogh lost her seat.
